IAHS is a non-profit scientific association with defined goals:

1. To generate interest in improving every phase of housing technology and production



2. To emphasize and foster the interdisciplinary aspects of housing problems.



3. To use integrated systems approach in the decision process associated with every phase of planning and construction.



4. To incorporate all possible scientific knowledge and methods in the housing industry.



5. To organize and sponsor meetings, courses, and conferences to create opportunities for obtaining innovative ideas and methods for all who are concerned with housing problems.



6. To assemble, compile, publish, and disseminate information related to every aspect of housing problems.



7. To cooperate with academic and research institutions and government and private organizations to sponsor and finance pertinent research on topics related to housing.



8. To search for support innovations which have the potential to help solve the decent housing shortages all around the world.



9. 9. To establish means to eliminate the duplications in research in the areas related to housing technology and industry. .
